HISOKA IS HERE TO INDULGE CHROLLO('S MURDER TENDENCIES)

[ god's reasons are always unclear. and to hisoka, who thinks of god without interest, they don't matter.

chrollo seems to have climbed, rather than fallen. but now he floats at a level too far from the blood and earth of the world. ]

Have you reached the ground yet? [ hisoka's smile curves his lips, his white, slightly uneven teeth showing. ] Or were you just visiting on that trip?

hisoka's just terrible

Why so curious about my trip?

[he's here now. isn't that what matters? he's here, and you got him to go on a date with you, and you have him smiling prettily while his eyes show the subtle sharpness in his words.]

Keep it up, and we'll be forced to do an exchange again.

[answers, but at a cost. and if Hisoka pushes him to that point, he will make the man wait until after dinner for it. a petty act of forcing him to be patient.

god, he prefers it when people talk about themselves. much more interesting that way.]

Oh? There are so many things I'd like to exchange with you.

[ hisoka doesn't mind the cost; he hides little about himself that he can't share, and oh, the things he would do for this man. ♠ ]

Tell me about them.

[he doesn't expect Hisoka to take him seriously, he's more taking time to think about how he can get out of this with the least damage done. there are things he can say, things he can't, things he won't.]

Or tell me more about your second job.

[one of those things that he has to keep close is thankfully not his more....morbid tastes. at least, not anymore.]

[ whichever one chrollo chooses, it'll mean a little something to him. ]

[you don't get to escape that easily, Hisoka. not when Chrollo sees an opportunity to redirect the attention.]

First one, then the other, is that it?

First one... and then the other.

[ hisoka leans over the table slightly—then sits back in his seat and picks up his fork to start in on his appetizer. he doesn't speak, just eats neatly. ]

[specialization]

[...satisfactory enough for him. if he would get both, as was his wish, then did the order matter so much anymore? what mattered more was that in the end he did get them. they'll eat in silence for a bit, and Chrollo will finish his appetizer before he speaks again.]

Your job first.

[why? because why not.]

You know someone who works with me.

[ someone who works with hisoka in his "second job", that is. ]

...Who? No, wait, let me guess.

[his gaze grows distant as he thinks. someone with the same sense around them as Hisoka, if he stopped trying to blind himself to it. someone who would do such a thing, who had the capacity.

the realization comes to him, and he looks up at Hisoka momentarily stunned.]

...I hate to admit it, but...

[something in the eyes. of course, odd wasn't an automatic qualification, but when it came to people who hung around Hisoka...]

For how long?

[ illumi's eyes, in hisoka's opinion, are very beautiful. ♣ but also definitely dead. ]

Mm. It's your turn. [ is it..?? maybe, but hisoka also just wants to know. ] Tell me about your trip.

[pieces for pieces. Chrollo doesn't mind if this ends up being something they have to drag out.]

I went somewhere cold. Enough time zones away that our day is their night.

[is he deliberately making this harder? yes.]

[ it would have been too easy for chrollo to actually tell him, apparently. still, his answer narrows down the options greatly. ]

Visiting old friends?

[ a guess on hisoka's part. if chrollo was meeting new people for business purposes, he'd likely be willing to part with the information. ]

[specialization]

[friends. he could laugh, and the twitch of his lips upward says enough about how it amuses him.]

Yes. Some of them prefer to catch up in person rather than an email.

[it was almost pointlessly a hassle, when in this day and age you could route a message through six different countries to mask its signal, but there's a level of old fashioned charm to it Chrollo can't deny. all the hassle for a few hours worth of discussion that decided enough that no one would dare miss it.]

[ "friends" garnered a laugh, it seems. hisoka presses a pointed fingernail to the corner of his own mouth as he smiles in response. ]

How delightful. ♥

[ you can kill someone from halfway across the world, but it's far more fun to use your hands. in person. ]

Do these friends of yours know?

[of course it's more. there's risk, but the satisfaction is its own reward. the certainty in knowing it was you that cut that last tie to life. the way your heart pounded after.

instead of answering the question with words, he instead lets out a small hm, taking a sip of his drink and doing his best to look as if that question didn't raise his guard a few degrees. it doesn't matter. (oh but they do know, and they suspect but can never prove the course of destruction that bought this much.)

It was much less eventful than it could have been. I returned in one piece, after all. Being back means I can go back to doing what I prefer. [be that work or going out with Hisoka.] Not that they aren't interesting company. But they never let me ask enough questions. Just imagine how annoying that is.

[Hisoka would hate them, he thinks. he would decide to cause trouble in the first twenty minutes.]

Let's say...three more from you, and then it might be my turn.

[ a trade. oh, chrollo thinks this is run by equivalent exchange.

hisoka can pretend that he understands, but what's the fun in actually sharing? he wants it all for himself. ]

Would they have been able to keep you there, if there was an event?

[specialization]

Physically? No. But I would have chosen to stay for as long as I would have been needed. It's bad taste to run off and leave something half finished, after all.

[Chrollo smiles, and his eyes are cold. if something had happened, he would have figured it out. he always does - it was the price of resurfacing, after all.]

And you'd never let something lie half-done. ♣

[ it seems accurate to chrollo's personality. hisoka likes that in him, really. ]

If I begin something, Chrollo, would you help me? ♦

[specialization]

That depends on what it is.

[he won't commit to something he can't help with, of course...but if Hisoka asks nicely, he might help. actually, if Hisoka doesn't ask nicely, the same result was there. it just drew a little more complaining from Chrollo.]

[obscurant]

I'll tell you when the time comes.

[ hisoka... please. but he really has no intention of explaining, so he turns his eyes on the food for a moment while waiting for chrollo's next question. ]

[specialization]

[they're both being difficult, aren't they, cryptic answers for cryptic answers. if Chrollo had to confess, he found it interesting to have to work for the truth. most people simply gave it up without thinking or because they had to with him in charge. this is different, and Chrollo's always liked different.]

Why modelling as your day job? Doesn't it get in the way?

[obscurant]

How should it? ♦ I'm a hard worker, Chrollo.

[ and though undue challenge isn't hisoka's favorite thing in the world, it does add a bit of spice to life. ]
