3. gotta go fast.

[ but of course giorno giovanna thinks that his own brand of danger and his own flavour of secrets are worth more than what rohan can put on the table. and he recognizes those tell-tale signs of rohan at worst, having to be on the other side trying to reel him in before he hurtles into something he barely understands. observing and researching isn't the same as knowing what to expect, strength of his stand aside. he could not predict how he will be received once he pokes around the italian mafia.
but giorno isn't in the mood to discuss this further, having repeated himself a lot more than necessary, and so he raises his hands in surrender. ]
Alright.
I'll be keeping an eye on you. [ which he knows that rohan hates, but. ] Don't be difficult, signore. I'm not as nice in the streets as I am in your house.
[ your pretty face will go to hell. ]
no subject
[ in rohan's own view, he's always in the right. he isn't worried by the threat, either, and his behavior shows it; he's utterly casual even as he walks closer to giorno with his empty smoothie glass. ]
Let me wash yours.
[ like it's settled already. ]
no subject
[ he lets rohan take his glass, but he'll be following rohan towards his kitchen. ]
Are you free for dinner tonight? Tonio has something prepared for me, but I don't mind bringing a friend.
[ he also has other reasons to talk to tonio, but that's not as important either. ]
no subject
[ rohan's joking, this time; he's pretty sure giorno wouldn't mind eating on his own at all. but he likes tonio, loves his food. ]
You'll have to call ahead if I'm to accompany you.
[ so many health problems tbh. ]
no subject
[ he's gonna be dialing tonio's right about now. ]
no subject
[ thankfully, rohan is quiet while giorno makes the call. ]
no subject
after the call, giorno turns to him and asks - ]
Do you have any plans after dinner?
[ he'll be in town for a while, might as well squeeze as much time from him as possible. ]
no subject
giorno's talking to him again. rohan brings his attention back sharply and with a slight frown. ]
Life drawing practice. [ he pauses abruptly, eyes traveling over giorno. ] The plan was to work on still lifes, but I could push that back until tomorrow.
no subject
[ and he does sound excited about it, barely contained in his face as he makes the request of rohan. ]
As for Tonio - he approves of my date, and he's excited to see you tonight.
no subject
But yes, you should come. I want to draw you.
no subject
he bites the inside of his cheek, and then replies with, ]
I'll allow it.
no subject
the practice will be welcome and necessary, however, and rohan dismisses the topic just as easily as it had come up. ]
Then I'll see you at dinner. I will have to change and ready myself.
no subject
I'll come by around 6.
[ and that was that.
morioh in the evening was even more charming: giorno finds enjoyment in the quiet streets, a very marked contrast from the way naples tends to become unbearable from time to time. a hustling and bustling street, however, means multiple economic opportunities. a quiet street means more time for the self and the company, and giorno has to remind himself that he's not here for work, he's here to enjoy his vacation.
if he can convince his handlers that he needs the peace and quiet, that is. giorno had told his men that he didn't need to be tracked - it's a quiet town, who is going to threaten him here? - but they're there, anyway, passione flitting through the shadows and marking him as he moves through the streets quietly in his flashy car. the way they can afford to worry about him, one would think there was nothing in italy to concern themselves with.
then again, when you're giorno giovanna, who can stand up against you anywhere?
giorno is dressed in white, gold, and lavender. perhaps he is tempting fate by going to a dinner in a white suit, but it's not like he's a boor.
he parks the car right outside and waits, sending a text to rohan that he's waiting as he heads towards the door. ]
no subject
(the 90's weren't that long ago, after all.)
he's prepared by 6pm, but giorno will still have to wait a minute outside before rohan appears and greets him. ]
no subject
and once he sees him, giorno smiles. he looks wonderful. not that rohan never does look wonderful - he approves of the meticulous way he cares for his appearance whether there's a reason for him to go outside or not - but he appreciates the fact that they look attractive together. there's something to be said about appearances, and giorno always appreciates people who take the time to maintain them. in his facetious life as a mafia boss, any effort involved to maintain a persona, good or bad, always gets a kind of approval from him.
he offers his left arm to escort him, should he feel like taking it to the car. he can't stop smiling. ]
no subject
You're in a good mood.
no subject
[ that and they're no longer talking about business. there's the faintest sound of music coming from the radio as they make their way to tonio's - a somewhat short trip given the size of the town, but giorno drives there comfortably. ]
no subject
You don't look so bad yourself.
[ the smile's nice, since it's genuine. ]
no subject
Tonio reminds me of home. I'm glad he's doing so well in this town.
[ he looks at rohan, rather thoughtful. ] I'm surprised Morioh is good enough for you to stay in. I picture you more in the city, something like Tokyo, for example. [ but what does he know. rohan is the one who can read people like books, and while giorno does have the skill, it certainly doesn't compare to someone like him.
a funny thing, to have someone so powerful as kishibe rohan and yet not have his loyalty. the egoistic side of giorno is only the slightest bit offended at this arrangement. there are plenty of options available to someone who holds italy in the palm of his hand with a stand that cannot be matched and with men and women who are willing to lay their lives for him, and yet kishibe rohan will not be moved. it is maddening, but very intriguing to giorno. it keeps him coming back to this small town, even if it has other attractive citizens. ]

[ rohan takes his seat. there's no menu here; tonio starts them with a light antipasto and prosecco. ]
I prefer to go to less crowded environments when I travel for leisure.
