It's the best one I have, since it isn't just one place I get my information from. I'm constantly adding more to my memory.

Before, it was likely much the same as yours. Afterwards, I believe if I was using my full capacity that I would be closer to 5 petabytes of information--though it is nowhere near to being filled that much, and even before that it is easier to sort information by type and store it other places than solely relying on imperfect human recollection.

[ that's fascinating. it really is, that someone—he's assuming that she was human—modified their memory to that extent. ]

I'm not really allowed out much anyway.

If it delivers, yeah. That's never been a problem.

We could be not in the same city, you know.

What if I... [ uh. ] ...come and see you?

[on the other side, she's weighing her options. the chance to see someone, physically see someone else who's not those she's grown to hate. but the very real possibility he'll be automatically barred from even getting close is there.]

Are you serious about this?

[quatrain]

I could be. If you want.

[ because for all his fake smiles and overfriendliness, he's an agent of this group for a reason. ]

I've been serious this whole time.

[she laughs a little. he'd been joking? she hadn't noticed...]

Then I'll come see you. Takeout and all.

[it takes her a minute to respond, because that's a promise and she's actually going to have a friend come and visit...she's surprised how giddy it makes her feel. in reality, she's grinning hugely.

he'll need coordinates and clearance, she realizes, and it only takes her a moment to combine the two into a message to send off. in the virtual space, it appears like her reaching up, plucking a feather from her wings, and handing it over, it gaining more substance than an outline once it's detached.]

Come whenever, I'll be waiting.

[ neat. hé míng looks at the feather wonderingly before he accepts it, taking the data in before flashing her another bright smile. ]

It was good talking to you. I'll come by soon. You can count on it.

[ and then he logs off, disappearing in a soft glow and an imprint of something like deer antlers.

about a week later, once he's able to get the proper transportation and find a good thai place near the coordinates, he shows up with bag of takeaway and his best winning smile. ]

[it's a pretty tall building in a downtown area, a nice place with a front desk and a guy that looks like he's been dealing with too much shit in his life to take any from the people who come in. he eyes Hé Míng pretty skeptically, but showing him the data that Angel had sent (helpfully noting "show this to the person at the front") gets him to indicate the direction of the elevator, slide over a keycard, and mutter something about the top floor and the fourth door on the left.
