I will. You might not. [she chuckles,] I'm just being honest.
[last time they -- she -- got desperate, they had to burn their car down and steal another one. heine ended up okay (he always is) but the leather seats had been ruined and her clothes had to join the fire as well.]
Ugh. Shut up. I feel disgusting. Just shut up before I rip your tongue out.
[she makes a face, purposefully going out of her way to turn her head to look at heine. it's a bad idea. she shouldn't have done that. the veins in his skin pop out to her like some kind of great, exotic river, as if she's meant to drink from it.
a car's honk snaps her out of it, jolting her from her daze. she had been on the other side of the road for a good few seconds. she can totally make it.]
[ feeling her gaze on him, he shifts with slight discomfort, crossing his arms. then the minivan in the other lane honks, displaying great annoyance at the fact that they're driving down the wrong side of the road. ]
Shit—!
[ he didn't even notice until the car honked, which speaks volumes about his attentiveness... heine grabs his knees for a second, then scowls. ]
Drive faster or pull over.
[ there's an emergency pullaway on the side of the highway. he doesn't think she'll make two miles. ]
Um, last time I drove faster you told me to slow down, and then a cop pulled us over. And I'm not pulling over yet. Two miles isn't even that far away.
[she can handle this (at least that's what she's telling herself). some say that patience is a virtue, but she's not feeling to virtuous right now and she could really use some organs. and blood. maybe everything. mostly everything.]
There's a difference between driving faster and breaking the law.
[ uh, with these two... not really.
heine is nice enough to not mention that they've multiple signs, and just shrugs slightly as they pass the sign saying 1.5 miles to the next rest stop. they really are almost there, but he's feeling trepidation about her ability to last another five minutes. ]
[there's no difference. ever. they either break the law or they don't. it's that simple.
it's really a good thing he's keeping his mouth shut, though. she just wants to gnaw everything off by this point. it's like she comes down with a nasty cold before she needs more blood. there's nothing about that that's fun-- she likes to be pretty, not gross and normal looking.]
[ he finally just rolls his eyes and slouches back in his seat, crossing his arms. he can see her starting to change, the effects of her not having fed in a while, and it's just as weird as it always is.
he's still half-tempted to provoke her more, but... he'll keep hims mouth shut for now. hopefully they'll reach the gas station before any murder occurs! ]
[the few minutes it takes to get to the gas station and not rip heine's neck out are very long minutes. but jennifer makes it, forces herself to chew on the inside of her cheek instead. she's like a god, for christ's sake. she can handle this.
the only problem is she can only handle so much. as soon as their car so much as touches the driveway of the gas station, she nearly speeds into the pumps. she pulls the emergency break up and turns, tires screeching into the pavement before an abrupt and bumpy stop.
she leaves the keys and her wallet in the car- doesn't so much as look at heine, when she rushes into the station. whoever is inside is completely and utterly fucked, by this point.]
[ heine keeps quiet for the rest of the ride, amazingly, only occasionally drumming his fingertips on the inside of the door. he only grips at the seat in mild stress when she very nearly crashes the car and rushes out of the car.
geez. he sighs and gets out of the passenger side, ignoring anything happening inside the gas station in favor of reparking the car nearer to the pumps. he opens the fuel door and fills up the tank, leaning back against the door and watching the window of the gas station with distant interest. maybe he'll even see some blood from here. ]

Just keep your eyes on the road.
[ he is saying this despite being an incredibly shitty driver, himself. ]

There's a sign. We're literally almost there.
