i will sail to the far shore

[ Los Angeles is a city of easy prey, and that's nice, when he's not feeling up to a chase or trying to find new ways of getting close to Naoto. Not only that, it's where Heine lives.

At first he really thought the guy was fucking his beloved "sister". Continued denials and his own sniffing around have put that thought to rest, and then brought to light a new fact: Heine's pretty easy, too. It probably helps that he knows Magato has no interest in fame or fortune for himself. All Magato really wants is the fucking around—in all meanings of the phrase.

Speaking of fucking around, there's that one guy walking into the bar... Eames, if he remembers correctly. Sorta famous, sorta not, whatever. He definitely has a thing for Snowflake.

So of course Magato turns from where he's sitting at the bar and raises one hand in a lazy wave, fingers curling toward his palm. ]

Fancy seeing you tonight. You come here often?

Probably because I managed to avoid her for a couple of weeks.

[ During the worst of it, Magato's apartment had been both a refuge and a place where he continued to downward spiral. ]

I heard she talked to Yusuf.

You can never escape a woman's wrath for long.

[Eames said, feeling a tinge of sympathy for Yusuf. He'd have to call on him to make sure he still had all of his limbs in tact. And while he didn't want to bring up Magato's name, like it was a bad luck omen to their shaky peace, his curiosity won out as it always did.]

Any idea what she is going to do with Magato?

[ Raising his eyebrows, Heine nevertheless nods. He picks up another bite and is still chewing it when Eames asks after... Magato.

Well. They probably would've had to talk about it eventually. ]

Chase him out of town if she has her way. It's not like she hasn't hated him forever.

[The lack of reaction out of Heine was either practiced or perhaps he really didn't care either way about the fate of Magato. He wasn't sure whether this was a good sign or not.]

Those two are very odd.

[As if Eames' friends are any better.]

I'm sure everyone close to you would breathe easier if she did.

[ That could be true, and honestly, Heine was aware that most people didn't like Magato much even while going out with him. ]

Are you included in that?

Is there a good answer to that?

[Eames retorted easily, pausing when he noticed some people starting to gather across the street. People with obnoxiously big cameras.]

Fancy being on the front of the tabloids again or should we wrap this up?

Guess you're still doing well.

[ That is, if there are people still trying to get tabloid photos of him. Heine doesn't make eye contact across the street and instead begins to pack up his leftovers into the takeout box. ]

Think they're interested enough to try and follow us?

Or you.

[Eames pointed out, gathering up his garbage to throw it away, tucking his hands in his front pockets as he considered the question.]

Normally I would have said no, but you being here is different. Let's just be quick, shall we?

[Unconsciously, or perhaps pointedly, he put a hand on the small of Heine's back to help steer him along.]

[ Heine was hoping he wasn't recognized, but he hadn't worn a hat and his hair and eyes are... well, very obvious. He holds the takeout box one hand and gets up. ]

Where are we going?

[ They're close to Eames' place, and Heine is letting him lead. ]

We can hide out at my place since it's now inhabitable for humans, or we can duck into a restaurant nearby if my place is too forward.

[Heine was surprisingly pliable, but Eames wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth.]

We can go to yours. I'll be the judge of how inhabitable it is.

[ Pliable, and maybe even in a better mood now that they've eaten and had a civil conversation, even after the mention of Magato. ]

Did you work any more on the songs?

[ He starts walking, turning his back on the photographers. ]

It'll be up to even your high standards.

[Luckily, Eames' apartment doorman was used to the song and dance about the paparazzi, holding the door open for the both of them before gently gesturing for the photographers to go elsewhere. The damage was done already, but Eames couldn't help but feel a small sense of satisfaction. Would Magato see those pictures and get annoyed? He hoped so.

He used the stairs instead of the elevator to get back to his floor, shaking his head at the question.]

Just did a few tweaks here or there. Nothing too serious. Why, are you eager to listen again already?

[He shot Heine a knowing wink, plodding over to his door to unlock it. It was like a whole different apartment, the only thing still the same from the other day was the painting, but it'd been pushed more out of the way.]

[ Heine keeps up, going up the stairs and not looking back at the people hanging back around the front door. They aren't interested enough to follow them inside, at least. ]

Don't have a lot better to do. [ He's eaten, and all the other things that he and Eames tend to do... don't seem like a good idea just yet. ] If you feel like recording any more.

It's been a while since we recorded anything together. It could be fun.

[He shut the door behind them both, gesturing for Heine to stick his leftovers in the fridge, heading into his studio to boot everything up.]

If you're so inclined, my recent string of videos have been drunk karaoke themed. Would you do me the great honor of drinking with me and singing something?

We'll see about that.

[ Drunk karaoke. Heine gives him a sideways look, but he goes with him into his apartment anyway.

It takes a while for them to fall back into the rhythm of things. Longer than Heine really expected, because he almost thought they'd end up sleeping together the first night the met up again. But it's almost a week before Eames comes into his hotel room and Heine kisses his throat and presses him up against the door, on the last night before he returns to LA. ]

You smell like the Indian food.

[ Heine mumbles against his skin, fingers sliding under Eames' shirt to tug at the waistband of his pants. Dinner had been hours ago already, so Eames still smells faintly of spices, but moreso his cologne and himself. ]

[It must be a new record for them to not have fallen into bed together, really. Not since they first met had they been able to keep their hands off of each other, and Eames was a bit proud of them, even as he was frustrated at this sudden distance. He had been resigned to seeing Heine off without touching him when Heine took matters into his own hands.

He had to laugh when Heine unexpected pressed him up against his hotel door, arching his neck to give him better access as he gripped at Heine's waist to bring him in closer.]

Is that going to be a problem?

[He lodged a thigh between Heine's legs, helping him take his shirt off.]

No.

[ Heine rises automatically on his toes, riding Eames' leg with a low groan. When he's able to get his hands on his shirt properly he drags it off over his head and tosses it to the ground.

It does somewhat lessen the smell of cumin, but Heine's already forgotten about that. ]

Get on the bed.

I do so love it when you take charge.

[Eames teased, swooping down to kiss Heine deeply for a moment, sweeping his tongue into his mouth briefly before he did as he was told. He loosened his belt as he went, letting his pants drop to the floor after he kicked out of his shoes.

He crawled onto the bed, before turning over to rest on his back, pupils dilated with interest as he looked back over at Heine.]

How do you want me?

Of course you do.

[ Heine scans Eames as he sprawls out, eyes going from head to toe.

He did miss this. A smirk pulls back the corner of his mouth as he climbs up to rest on his knees, looming over Eames from his position straddling his legs. ]

I want to fuck you. [ He falls forward, landing on his palms over Eames to stare directly down into his face for a good five seconds before he moves again. Reaching over Eames, he opens the hotel's nightstand drawer for the lube he definitely didn't buy until yesterday. ]

[Eames who body seemed to drum with desire at that simple statement, at that lazy smirk on Heine's lips as he looked down at him. Every part of his thighs that pressed against his bare skin felt like it was scalding him, but instead of wanting to jerk away, he wanted to press in closer.

He canted his head to the side, propping himself up onto the pillows to get more comfortable, expression interested.]

Yeah? For how long have you been behaving and keeping your hands to yourself?

What's it matter to you?

[ Heine squeezes his knees in, but releases the pressure a moment later as he answers. ]

Since I stopped seeing Magato.

[ Having voiced it, Heine drops the lube onto Eames' chest. ]

If that's what you mean.

[Not while he was seeing Magato? It was on the tip of his tongue to ask, but he didn't want to ruin the moment, instead taking the lube and coating his fingers generously.]

Why wouldn't it matter to me?

[AKA why wouldn't he want to have his ego stroked a bit. Because even if they had been behaving and keeping their hands off of each other until their relationship had felt more solid without sex, he might be a bit starved for assurance.

He nudged at Heine to spread his legs a bit wider so he could reach for his own entrance, tipping his head back slightly as he pressed in one finger, then another almost straight away. What could he say? It'd been a trying week.]

[ Heine moves to give Eames room, looking quickly between his face, the crease between his eyebrows, and down to where his fingers slip in surprisingly quickly between his legs. ]

Eager.

[ But after a pause, he answers the question. ]

We weren't together. [ Not during Magato, and not before Magato either, so why would he care? ] Are we now?

Would you rather take it slow and sweet?

[Eames asked, half-sarcastically and half-seriously, but his fingers didn't slow in the least, his eyes half-lidded with pleasure.

Heine answering his question seriously was enough to make him slow his pace, finding this talk awkward, but knowing the moment's importance and significance. He leaned up, pressing their mouths together, pulling away only a few millimeters so that their lips could still brush.]

I want us to be.

[And there it was, bared out in the open with no vagueness, no ways it could be misconstrued. It was worrisome, to be so straight forward, but he had been under the assumption that once Heine had reached out to him and admitted he wanted this to work between them that they were together.]

Didn't say that.

[ Heine looks down as Eames' fingers disappear into himself, tipping his head to rest his forehead at his shoulder for a moment after he speaks. If Eames wants them to be together, then...

...then it's another chance Heine is willing to take. ]

Okay.

[ Kissing his throat, Heine rolls his hips against his leg. ]
