[ after school, it hadn't been that hard to leave the country. he was a legal adult, after all, and einsturzen's education wasn't all for nothing. speaking different languages is helpful when you're on the move. eventually, heine had found that being able to handle a gun is useful on a whole other level.
he's back on a visit from the darker sides of europe, somewhat more scarred, a little harder around the edges. but the red string that had showed up when he came of age was pulling, more tightly and more insistently than before. heine had been able to ignore it for years (longer than most), but when it was more of a distraction than he could afford, he'd gone to follow it...
...all the way back to his hometown. expecting the string to lead him away, and just inside the borders, he hasn't told anyone he's back, but he's not exactly hiding, either. ]

[ he wants to stay. he wants to curl up, forget what he has to do, and just stay with her. it doesn't matter where, he thinks, before amending that it would be best where she wouldn't be in danger. ]

So... your roommate. She won't be back for a while?

Nill nods at his question; that's right. She's out of town for at least a few days, something Nill is, at this moment, incredibly thankful for.]

[ alone, he means, because he's so awkward. ]
What do you want to do?

She taps her chin with a finger as she thinks, snuggling up into his side. To be honest, she'd be more than happy to just sit here on the couch with him, but she figures they can't spend the next few days doing just that. So she shrugs and tilts her head back to look at him, reciprocating the question. Ideas?]

[ he can cook now! kind of. he can make basic foods, but he usually doesn't have much time to practice. so it's probably a better idea for Nill to cook, but he wouldn't be averse to helping out. ]

But nope, just those three ingredients. Okay, she can work with this. Omelettes it is. He gets a gold star.
Nill smile and nods, starting to make her way around the kitchen to gather a cutting board, a knife, and a bowl for beating eggs. She gently takes his hand and walks backwards towards the counter, guiding him towards it. Yes, he's going to help.]

What should I do?
[ come on, Heine, take some initiative! ]

the string on his finger is humming a soft, constant tone, comforting now that they're close to each other. soon, he's finished cutting the green peppers. he picks up the entire board and carries it over to the stovetop. ]
When do you want to put these in?

Once he's finished the cutting, she's pretty much ready for the vegetables. She steps aside slightly and makes a gesture meant to mean right now please.]
